"Back Home"

I have finished moving out of my Dad's place and am back into my boring life at my boring old condo in my stupid old room. But I guess it's fine, I was growing tired of that place anyway. I'm not sure how much of a fan I am of living alone now that I've done it a while.

Yesterday I almost didn't make it on the blog entray a day ting. Actually I was all set for bed at 11:30 when I remembered I need an entry. I guess I'm really taking this seriously, aren't I?

I haven't talked anything about jobs in a while. Just been a little depressing lately I guess. I did get a call this afternoon however from a lady who is the recruiter for some company. Apparently an indeterminate number of months ago I responded to a Craig's List ad with my resume and they are only just now replying back. I looked through all my sent emails with attachments to see if I could find the respective email but I haven't the slightest idea when I sent it. Or for that matter even after talking to the lady what the job actually is. I do know roughly where it is though.

This has taught me the fairly obvious lesson that I should really be keeping very close track of all the resumes I send out along with where I found the ad, the contents of the ad if it's a craig's list thing and so forth. That way this kind of thing isn't a mystery.

I have no idea when or if I will be contacted again about this position. I do know I should probably get my favorite interview-related clothes dry-cleaned so they are all ready to go when the time comes.

As long as I'm on that subject I guess I'll mention my unemployment. Namely that I apparently put the wrong contents on a unemployment form and was rewarded for this honesty with not getting any checks for eight weeks. Thanks, thanks a lot. And the phone call, when it finally came, took like 15 seconds. What the call accomplished that a 35 cent post card with a couple of check boxes could not have accomplished I still have no idea. But fine, sure whatever.

In the past two weeks I have received four checks for unemployment. That's part of why I know how many weeks it has been. Good thing I had a lot of saving or I don't know what I would have done.

I did have some interesting issues with my home server today in that I had been running semi-famous hard drive utility spinrite for roughly two weeks straight trying to maintain all my drives and when I went to hook them all back up one of the slots of my hard drive "back plane" wasn't acknowledging the drive. Once I did a bunch of troubleshooting to be sure that it was in fact the backplane and not my power supply or whatever I just moved that drive to outside the back plane, the other three in the back plane, booted the server up and preyed.

Well so far so good actually So there's that. And thanks to all that maintenance I haven't been downloading or listening and/or watching my favorite podcasts. So now I have a big list of stuff to listen to and watch. I especially like the listening part as I always need stuff to listen to whilst walking/jogging.

I guess I'm off to do some PHP tonight. At least I'm holding with this blog a day thing. Right?

This blog is a combination "personal musings" (mostly satirical and dripping with sarcasm) ranging from what's going on in my life to my views on politics and various current events. For 2010 my goal is to make an entry every day for the entire year or at least as close as I can come to that goal as may be practical.
