"Whatever, Man"
The title is supposed to be a reference to Wednesday's episode of Lost. But in a clever-for-me double meaning it also references actual life.
For one thing the job I've had a whole year has just ended. The job I was actually enjoying for once. That job where I got along with everyone and felt like I was bit more than "minimally competant". Ya, that one. Yesterday was my last day. I found out about losing it a week ago yesterday.
I was of course feeling a little, as I would call it, "under stimulated". A little stale if you will. But it was alright. I was getting into a nice little rut of withering on a vine. Which probably doesn't make sense metaphorically but you get the point. And now it's over.
So today was my first day of unemployment. In a whole year that is. I did very little. I did some ready, I played a stupid flash game and that's about it. I didn't even delve into my recently re-upped WoW account with newly installed "Burning Crusade" expansion.
So now that my curse-of-too-much-time has been renewed what shall I do with my time until such time as I get a new job? Well there's always writing. Like I'm doing now.
When I don't write for a while it feels like a cookie cutter has been taken to the cookie dough of my soul. Or possibly some other metaphor that isn't lame. The point is it feels like a chunk of myself is somehow missing when I go too long without writing. Why is that?
I also haven't been reading any books. I ready books for months on end last year leading up to the write-a-book in November. After that I haven't read any books OR done any writing. Not many anyway. I read a couple short stories in this collection of short stories book I bought.
Of course there are things to do besides. For instance I have my old PC setup as a DVR. Ok I had that PC set up as a DVR. After much cursing and re-installing and frustration I decided possibly the video card wasn't suffecient. So I bought a new one only that hasn't helped any. So now I've ordered a new one. Also, the CPU is too hot so I have apply some thermal paste or whatever it's called. And it has too much dust.
