"Obey the SQL!"

I think I forgot to explain the title of the last entry: it's from a little-known cartoon show called Invader Zim. It's supposed to be for little kids but it was quite bizaare even for little kids. Lots of 20-somethings that seem to love it though. That one of the Zim's lines: "obey the fist!".

Haven't updated this blog in a while. And I wouldn't be now actually but stupid WoW decided to give me a rather annoying patch. That wouldn't have been so bad if it had just downloaded and installed the patch instead of stopping every two minutes to say "you're behind a firewall, disable it and it's better". I don't really care and why did you stop downloading just to tell me that? Stupid WoW.

Anyway: Took me three weeks to get a new job. I was unemployed for 3 weeks until I finally took an offer really. Seems the economy is doing pretty good since every monday (at least) I would get at least 1 call from some head hunter or whatever.

So I have a job now. It's more than I was making at apple although I'm not entirely certain I have any medical benefits or whatever. But then it's only supposed to last 9 weeks total and I'm 2 1/2 weeks into it thus far.

I haven't done a whole lot lately. I'm basically an assistant to one of the main IT/programmer guys. Anything he's too busy to do I get to do. Only lately I haven't had a whole lot to do so I've been reading an ebook on MS SQL server 2000. For 8 hours a day. Ya, I'm a little bored. What the hell was the point of all those troubleshooting/technical scenarios to test my techncial abilities if they're just going to have me sit there and read an ebook for 8 hours a day? Hey if they want to hire some guy to sit in a cubicle and read an ebook all day more power to them but I honestly don't get this.

They are very friendly though. Very straight forward and employee-friendly. I really don't have much to complain about. I'm not in a call center talking to idiots...erm users for 40 hours a week and it's not like I'm out in the 102 degree heat or somethin'. I'm not utilizing talents that need constant practice to stay fluent or learning much new skills either though. But hey 9 weeks and I'm getting paid. What's the big deal? And I finally thought to ask if I could bring a walk man radio. Too bad I didn't think to ask sooner. Like 2 1/2 weeks ago.

I'm not going to bother mentioning the name of the company I'm working for. It's not a very popular company but that's not the reason. I just don't feel like going there for some inexplicable reason.

This blog is a combination "personal musings" (mostly satirical and dripping with sarcasm) ranging from what's going on in my life to my views on politics and various current events. For 2010 my goal is to make an entry every day for the entire year or at least as close as I can come to that goal as may be practical.
