"That's nuts"

Yes, it's been a while since I posted to this blog. Ok it's a little dull to keep saying that. I did make another post actually. I couldn't sleep this one night after reading something on slashdot. So way too late I just started writing. 45 minutes later I had pages and pages of ranting. But after re-reading it I decided it was a little over-the-top, even for this blog. I still have it stored as a draft though. Maybe I'll eventually publish it, maybe I won't.

I still don't have a job. This is just getting stupid. I'm hopeful for one in the next couple of weeks. Two months+ is enough unemployment for me. I'm ready for work.

So what have I done? Haven't played WoW oddly enough. You'd think a PC game enthusiast with nothing but free time would take advantage of the situation to get up to level 60 or whatever. But no.

But this enthusiast did complete at least one game: Fable: The Lost Chapters for PC. I've been wondering what if any big hub-bub was over that game. Turns out it's really, *really* easy. I mean if I can do it pretty fast it must be easy. The first time through I was a sword-wielding angelic knight type of character. That took me around 46 play hours. Then I started again as an evil mage. Still took my time and took only 21 hours play time. And that's with the additions of the "lost chapters". The original is obviously much shorter. And after all that if you asked me what the plot was I'd have no idea what it was. I know there's a sword involved. An arena. Some guy with a mask. Possibly a dragon. The end.

Last weekend I did go to San Francisco to see the Blue Angels perform their synchronized stunts. What great fun it was. San Fran is the closest world-famous city I live near. So maybe all cities have a lot of the attributes of that city. It's a very unique city though.

Of course that city is famous for it's anti-war, anti-military opinions. So it must have a annoyed some people to have tens of thousands of people from all over covering the docks and every possible open space to watch the military jets do their thing. I'm really just guessing on the 10k+. Judging by the crowded area not to mention the probably thousands of boats of all sizes (tiny dingee looking things on the ocean? That is nuts) all the way up to aircraft carriers and FDR's yacht.

I was on some kind of tour boat floating off near Alcatraz Island. I thought it was quite a good show and immediately regretted not bringing my video camera.

At some point over the last month I heard about a Crichton Speech that did a pretty good job of painting the modern environmentalist movement in a rather accurate light. How can someone like me bother attempting to explain a point of view when someone else has already presented it so perfectly.

Finally, I'll mention I'm taking part in "National Novel Writing Month". I do seem to excel at coming up with ambitious goals, don't I? Sure, 50,000 words in a month. For a novel. Right! Does have a fun little community though. It's been going since 1999, starting with 26 people or something like that. Last year it had tens of thousands participate all over the world. This year? Who knows? The boards are already busy three weeks before it starts (Nov. 1st). I started posting and have already had some great fun with it. Now it's just a matter of practicing a bit before it starts. I'll do this through this blog as well as my many other blogs. If I write every day or close to it I'm sure I would have enough practice in prepration. Good thing I have a wrist brace to half protect myself from carpal tunnel. Not sure it'll help, but hey.

There's a lot more I could write but I have to leave something for tomorrow. Right?

This blog is a combination "personal musings" (mostly satirical and dripping with sarcasm) ranging from what's going on in my life to my views on politics and various current events. For 2010 my goal is to make an entry every day for the entire year or at least as close as I can come to that goal as may be practical.
