"This one's wet"

Appears it's been more than long enough since my last posting. I can't believe I went so long. Not writing in the blog is like not seeing a friend for month (or something). Although you might hardly guess by how I talk about it sometimes. I think I found out a lot about how much I enjoy this free-form writing in my 5 weeks of not doing so.

So I suppose I should write out everything that's happened since the last post. Well not a whole lot, let me tell you. I have been looking for a job. Though not apparently the going out into the world and talking to people kind of looking. I think I need to try that part. Although just posting on the Internet has netted me a few calls here and there. So I've been doing a lot of time wasting. Why not get a temporary job for better-than-nothing you ask? Well it's a long story and I don't want to go into it. I've just been around the house for an extremely long time. Long for me anyway. So i may end up with a low-paying job to hold me over soon anyway. But then I never explained why I haven't done that yet now have I? I'm a little trapped at the moment. At least that's the feeling.

I did contact my friend from the fore-mentioned ISP I don't like to talk, write or think about. He did successfully get a job at another location. And he delivered my resume and cover letter (which he edited) to the HR department for me. That made me feel slightly less depressed than I was. So the job prospects may be looking up. I hope.

I did possibly have another interview with this other famous name brand company. I almost interviewed with them last October. And now I've almost interviewed with them in January. Since I feel more like I'm just getting jerked around I think I'm looking elsewhere. Also I am going to try and get some certifications through a local private "learning center" type place. They certify you while you're working for them then help you with a job when you're done. At least I think that's how it works. I can't go and pay $10,000 or whatever over here. I don't have that kind of money.

So what else have I been doing? Well I got a rather generous gift card for Christmas, CompUSA. So I bought a few games. And a new wireless keyboard/mouse combo because my existing wasn't working too well. So this is my first optical mouse. Is the battery life so bad for all cordless wireless mice? I swear it only lasts 48 hours if I'm lucky! The mouse I have takes a couple rechargeable batteries, which are recharged via a cord plugged into the USB port of my computer. Now my last wireless mouse wasn't optical or rechargeable but could go for more than a month on two AAA batteries. So I'm "so disillusioned".

As for the games, there are a few of them. And still some I want ;-). First there's Knights of the Old Republic. I could really tell it was aimed at a somewhat younger audience and designed for a game console as opposed to PC. But I still enjoyed it quite a lot. My first time through I was a light a Jedi. I'm always the good guy in every game I play. Personality flaw I guess. Took me 47 hours to complete the game. For real Star Wars fans I would recommend it, although I also recommend said fan be of age 23 years or yonger. That's just my estimate though really. Once I completed the game I wanted to finish it as a dark jedi. So I started playing it again but didn't get that far.

I also finally purchased Half Life to see what the big deal was with Counter Strike. So I installed the game followed immediately by this "steam installer" you have to download to get Counter Strike. Turns out for the $20 I spent on Half Life I got a whole bunch games downloaded via steam "Internet platform" or whatever they call it. This included CS and Day of Defeat, another World War II shooter. Turns out I still can't figure out what the big deal is. Seems like every other sort of shooter. Except Day of Defeat isn't quite as good as Return to Castle Wolfenstien or the free version of that called Enemy Territory. DoD does have a lot of maps available however, which is good.

Now for some reason I haven't really gotten into Final Fantasy XI, the online-only RPG I purchased way back on November 5th. And I haven't cancelled it either. I paid $50 for that damn game, seems like I should at least spend a few weeks playing it extensively. But I haven't. I went in for a few hours one night but haven't been back.

Lastly I have come up with a rough draft for a short story I plan on making into a module for NWN. Sure why not? I mean I'll be exercising my creativity, my computer skills, and my logic skills from all that scripting. Assuming I ever really complete it I think it'll be a very fun story. I even got an ending in mind set to drive any and everyone who gets there insane.

And the title from that entry five weeks ago, another commentary from an audience member during Return of the King. Damn bastards. When you go to a movie shut the fuck up!! Bah.

This blog is a combination "personal musings" (mostly satirical and dripping with sarcasm) ranging from what's going on in my life to my views on politics and various current events. I also do some discussions on technology and computer-related projects such as un-holey experiments involving Windows98, a CD and a thumb drive, use your imagination.
