"Yeah, Whatever"
So it's looking even more like my blog is dieing slowly although I doubt somehow anybody much read it to begin with. I'm going to keep making entries every so often anyway though, just for the fun of it.
Now since my last posting I have continued to read the Lord of the Ring books but I have not yet finished all of The Two Towers. Or for that matter figured out where that title came from, but that's secondary I suppose. I am on about book four, or half way through The Two Towers, whatever you prefer. I had fell a little behind from going to my one college course this week. It's still been a somewhat great read although the writing still seems to be leaning more and more towards a poetic style than a more story like manner of speech. I've also noticed how they've added a few things into the movies here and there to help visualize everything as it's happening in the movies. Still not sure I'm going to read through he third one though. Part of me wants to have this one read before I see the movie and another part of me would rather see the ending via the movie. But then I'll be comparing the book to the movie the whole time I'm reading like I'm doing now. You can see my dilemma if you could call it that.
Now I realize I must be the only person on the greater west coast to appreciate this but I for am excited about A FLAT TAX! Ok it wouldn't be for me. It's
actually for Iraq. Apparently both Russia and Ukraine have also passed such tax policies in the past few years. But this is the U.S. government deciding such a thing. Course they've also confiscated all weapons from people. But that's beside the point.
See they can pass a flat tax in Iraq like that because there's no other status quo already in place. The status quo hardly ever changes. And when it does the change quickly becomes the status quo. Reforming the IRS would be too difficult and radical but it might be possible in a gradual way. I think it's possible. For instance in one or another city a school voucher program finally got passed about ten years ago and now the candidate for mayor from both parties endorse it and push it whole heartedly, even the socialist one not proposing getting rid of it. And why? It's the new status quo of course. I'm not sure how long a flat tax would take to implement, probably a long time.
I just thought of a scenario, which I know would never to pass. What if conservatives and liberals got together and made a deal: in trade for a flat income tax for both individuals and corporations we pass "universal" health care. Sure give them the stupid euphemism for socialism. Damn hippies. I'm not sure it would worth it really. Although ironically with a flat tax the government would have enough extra money they could afford a socialized medicine system. Of course there would be a trade off in that whole freedom of choice civil rights area. Pfff. Forget I ever mentioned it.
Now I did find a rather funny story today. I'm talking about
this one. It's about Howard Dean and his apparent effort already to appeal to wider audience then the scary-left-wing types. He refers to those white guys with the confederate flag decals in the back window of their pick-up trucks.
He won't ever appeal to those types. Pacifist governors in charge of microscopic states filled with bed-and-breakfasts won't appeal to anyone who would actually need a pick-up truck. At least I would hope not. How could he appeal to the scary left wing, the bush-hating scary left wing, the fake-environmentalist-scary-left-wing, the politically correct to-the-point-of-fascism scary-left-wing...AND to average Joe types who watch NASCAR and have cars on cinder blocks in the front yard. Would hardly seem possible. I would of said the same about gore of course. Still. Vermont! Who the hell cares about Vermont? How hard is it to manage 12 Inns? The county I live in is larger and has more people than Vermont. How much leadership skill does it take to run state like that? Sounds like a class president more than a state governor to me. Which reminds me...
For some reason I watched the debate of the Democratic presidential candidates. I wanted a little free comedy and that whole learn how the enemy thinks thing is always good. Man was it funny. They all hate each other and they all hate Bush, a lot. They don't seem to have any ideas specifically, just a lot of hate in general.
Good for us I guess. The rest of the universe I mean. I don't think they can survive running purely on hatred. Who would be able to survive? And when they lose? That will be even funnier. How you could pick a winner out of that I don't know. Seemed to be a battle of the catch phrases really. Who's got the best catch phrase?
Also I've been watching my state burn the last week or so. Seems ironic the very people who are supposed to be trying to preserve the environment are the ones that wrote the policy resulting in it burning down to the ground so readily. Don't let anyone burn the dead undergrowth, which would incidentally be burned through natural course thanks to lightning strikes or whatever, and then wonder how this fire could burn so hot for so long. Well it's all your fault left-wing environmentalist motherfuckers. Your fault and yours alone. You killed the people who have died and will die. Those deaths are on YOUR heads. I blame YOU. As it appears it's your fault. So this makes sense.
Some how I doubt anything will change. The liberals will do their usual spin control and blame bush or space aliens or solar flares, the victims will forget, and everything will go back to normal. And of course the liberals will maintain their "monopoly" on good environmental policy. That's the way it always goes. At least until the next fire like this. More people will die. It will be liberal environmentalist policies to blame. And nothing will change. Aren't I supposed to be optimistic now a days?
So I'm still playing EverQuest. The graphics are still disappointing but it's got a good addictive thing going on in that slot machine sort of way. I made it all the way to level 16 already. It's going faster than I thought really. I managed to find a guild and a few people to play along with. This place for instance I just sit there and kill the same thing over and over and over and watch my levels go up. Which is kinda boring I guess but since there's this "auto-attack" I can sit there and type and talk the whole time so it's not all bad. I was having a pretty good time the other night talking to some people while fighting this creature. Now I could be playing this game right now if I so chose but it seems I'm writing a blog instead. Also I'm talking to my friend on IM.
I think I have finally run out of stuff to write about so I guess I will quit now. Last entrie's title was from that game I like, Planescape: Torment. It was a very funny line too. I don't want to spoil it though! Heh.
